Importance of growing plants and trees can be well estimated from this well known saying that “The true meaning of life is to plant trees”.
All our problems including the environmental pollution could be solved quickly if we would have a magic ball in our hand. But, the fact is that we don’t have any magic ball. The problems are far more difficult to solve than we think. It is just like the Newton’s third law of motion that every action has a reaction. We people are polluting the environment ourselves and in turns environment is also affecting us all. But, we can control or stop it by doing our part to reduce the noxious chemicals and other pollutants from environment. But, the question is, the other people and the commercial groups will also do the same???
All the education and the awareness movements about environmental cleaning are seemed to be just hopeless, but we can take a start by doing our part. We can start it from our own home. Along with that we can cooperate with the large corporations to explore the new solutions for controlling environmental pollution. But first start it from your own home by planting plants and trees.
Main reason of saying that you should start it from your own home is that every home has a contribution of carbon in atmosphere. The more you consume energy, larger is the contribution of carbon in air. Carbon, which is one of the most dangerous greenhouse gases, has the major contribution in global warming. So, by using more energy, you are degrading the environment more and more. So, it will not be mistaken to say that it is your responsibility to grow plants and trees to reduce environmental pollution. Plants and trees absorb a large amount of carbon, hence helping fight the global warming.
Another exceptional aspect of growing plants and trees is that they absorb carbon dioxide from environment which is another important greenhouse gas. They not only purify air by absorbing carbon dioxide but also release oxygen. “Oxygen” is like life to us and it is just like we are living in an oxygen chamber. There is no life without oxygen. If you breathe in oxygen rich air, your body will function well and you will remain stress free. According to a study, a tree releases a daily supply of oxygen for four people, per day. Now, you can imagine the benefits of growing plants and trees.
As we all know that urban areas are more dense and populated than rural. As a result they are relatively warm. Plants and trees reduce the air temperature by cooling air, water and land and by providing shed. So, they can take a big part in reducing heat and improving environmental conditions in urban areas. In addition to all this, trees and plants also help decreasing the surface water overflow from storms and thus increasing the ground water recharge. They are also very helpful in reducing the harmful chemicals transported to our watercourse.
End of discussion is that, apart from food, health and many other benefits, plants and trees have a great contribution in improving the environmental conditions, humanizing the ecological health and bringing the global warming and environmental pollution to an end. So, we should take part in eliminating the environmental issues by growing trees and plants, as these issues are own issues.
