
ADVICE TO PROTESTERS AND SECURITY OPERATIVES ON PEACEFUL CONDUCT DURING ONGOING PROTESTS
As the nation-wide “End-Bad-Government-Protest” enters its fifth day, we urge protesters to maintain a peaceful and organized demeanor to achieve their objectives without escalating tensions. Failure to comply may lead to unintended consequences, including loss of lives, property destruction, economic destabilization, and environmental degradation.
ADVICE TO OUR PROTESTERS:
– Dress modestly and avoid provocative attire
– Refrain from carrying weapons, sticks, or any object that could be used as a weapon
– Avoid inflammatory language and hate speech
– Remove yourself as quickly as possible from scenes where looting, vandalization, and other criminal activities are being carried out.
– Stay focused on the protest’s objectives and avoid diversionary tactics
– Follow designated routes and instructions from protest leaders
– Keep a safe distance from security operatives and avoid confrontations
ADVICE TO OUR SECURITY OPERATIVES:
– Exercise restraint and professionalism in handling protesters
– Avoid using excessive force or provocative language
– Refrain from arbitrary arrests or detention
– As quickly as possible intervene whenever protesters are under attack from hoodlums, thugs and other anti-protest individuals or group.
– Keep a safe distance from protesters to avoid escalation
– Follow established protocols for crowd control and de-escalation techniques
COMMON MISTAKES TO AVOID:
– Security operatives:
– Using tear gas or pepper spray without warning
– Firing live ammunition into crowds
– Making unnecessary physical contact with protesters
– Blocking escape routes or trapping protesters
– Protesters:
– Engaging in vandalism or property destruction
– Using violent language or hate speech
– Carrying weapons or objects that could be used as weapons
– Provoking security operatives or engaging in confrontations
